McKennzie Boyd receives the first printed copy of her play Southside Summer, written and submitted to the “Enough: plays to end gun violence” writing contest and officially becomes a published playwright under Broadway Licensing Company! You can buy scripts here that includes her script as well all the other 2021-2022 winners.

DC Cathro recently had an online performance of a short piece, I’m Worried About Lucille, which features fellow PlayGrounder Dana Hall in an acting role. It’s first in the lineup and can be viewed here.

DC Cathro also has a full length piece being performed for two more weekends in Waukegan at Three Brothers Theatre. Family Holiday – RJ goes home for the holidays and a nice relaxing time with his family and best friend. They, however, have other plans. Ada Cheng‘s ten minute play, CONFINEMENT, has been accepted for publication for Fall 2023 by Silk Road Review: A Literary Crossroads, a publication of Pacific University.

On January 7 at 2:00 CST, the Chicago-based, international company, Ubiquitous Players, will stage an online reading of Richard Lyons Conlon‘s sci-fi comedy, MFA* or *Monster of Fine Arts along with his seriocomic 10-minute fantasy for two-women, The Upside of Gravity. Playwright John N. Frank‘s comedy Boys in the Basement is having an online staged reading with ATC Studios in Clifton, N.J. Friday, Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m. central time. Boys looks at divorce from a man’s perspective. Following the exploits of an apartment house full of divorced men trying to help a new divorcee while also coaching (badly) a younger man on getting his first date. Learn more here.
