Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend‘s climate change comedy, Come Again, will be one of four plays presented as part of Bay Street Theater’s Title Wave New Works Festival in Sag Harbor, NY, on May 6th at 2pm. Get tickets here.
Karissa Murrell Myers’ play THE DEVIL’S GARDEN will receive a public staged reading at the upcoming APIDA Arts Festival happening at 7pm on May 3, 2023 at Goodman Theatre. Tickets to the festival are free!
Dana Hall‘s Theatre for Youth mystery play, Magic Memories, will be released this month with Next Stage Press. Visit NSP website to read a sample/order. This is an adaption of her middle grade reader The Adventure Club: Case of the Missing Principal available for purchase on Amazon. Hall co-stars in Second Star Productions, Aunt Tilly’s Last Hurrah, check out their site for more details. ATC Studios has posted their developmental reading of Hall’s new full-length play set in the 1940s called Hilda’s Diner. Check it out on their YouTube Channel.
Tiny Theatre will be doing an online reading of DC Cathro’s play “Fixed,” via Facebook Live, on April 12. “Fixed” is the story of a tattoo artist and his canvas. Both are from different worlds, both are broken… Can they fix each other? “Fixed” has also been selected for a reading at the Valdez Theatre Conference in Valdez, Alaska this June. The reading will be streamed, but the schedule has not yet been released. More information here. “Leda,” a film featuring Playground Chicago member DC Cathro, is receiving another screening in Reykjavik, Iceland at the Stockfish Film Festival. “Leda” is a black and white, dialogue-free, 3D art film, retelling the myth of Leda and the Swan. DVD and Blu-Ray are available in April.
David Lipschutz (he/him) has a handful of upcoming productions. The play, AHAVAH (co-written with fellow member of the Chicago-Playground writers pool Dana Hall (she/her)), will be performed with Gemco Players Community Theatre in Emerald, Victoria, Australia, from May 5th to May 7th, and the play, THE ALL-NEW DATING GAME! VIDEO GAME EDITION, will be performed with StageWorks at Studio 237 in Pompton Lake, New Jersey, from July 21st to July 23rd. David has several plays being published later this year as well. PERFORMANCE ANXIETY will be included in the “Hindsight 2022” anthology (Left Edge Theatre, publisher), THE SHOMER will be included in “The Best Men’s Monologues 2023” (Smith & Kraus publisher), and AHAVAH will be included in “The Best Ten-Minute Plays 2023” (Smith & Kraus, publisher). Finally, David was recently honored as a TANYS Award Recipient for Excellence in Playwriting for his play, G’OY VEY!, with Spoonie Theater. Learn more here.
John N. Frank is in rehearsals with Theater D in Deerfield to play the habadasher, Mr. Goodfellow, in “Inherit the Wind” opening April 7. Frank’s play “Boys in the Basement” will open June 14 at the Creative Corner Theater in the Fort Worth area of Texas.
