See what PlayGround-Chicago Writers and Company Members are up to this May!

Rammel Chan’s Tomato Tattoo, originally presented as part of the inaugural Best of PlayGround-Chicago Gala, will represent PlayGround-Chicago at the One PlayGround Festival, June 2-4, at Potrero Stage in San Francisco and simulcast. Rammel is also co-starring in Matthew C. Yee’s world premiere Lucy and Charlie’s Honeymoon, a new musical play at Lookingglass Theater Company. Featuring original country western and folk songs and directed by Amanda Dehnert. Performances from May 24 through July 16.

RJ Silva will be performing as JUN in CIRCA Pintig Theatre’s upcoming play premiere of DARYO’S ALL-AMERICAN DINER written by Conrad Panganiban and directed by Luis Pascasio, a resilient play that engages cross-cultural healing and understanding. Double-billed with Chicago DanzTheatre Ensemble’s production of “The Wasteland,” on stage May 5-6, 12-13 and 19-20 at the Auditorium of the Ebenezer Lutheran Church.

Karissa Murrell Myers‘ play BLACK BEAR ISLAND will be presented as a staged reading with Avalanche Theatre’s Next Draft Series. Performances on June 23 and 25. Tickets are Pay What You Can. BLACK BEAR ISLAND is a gothic magical-realism suspense thriller that explores regret, the unreliableness of our own memories, and the paths we choose to become who we are.

Sarah Bowden’s solo show My Beautiful Game will be performed as part of Chicago’s Rhinofest this June. The show highlights Sarah’s love of soccer and the Women’s National Team, as well as dives into her most ridiculous moments playing the game from kindergarten through high school. Performances will take place at Labyrinth Arts, 4477 N Elston Ave, at 7:00 pm on 6/8, 6/15, and 6/22.

Emma Rund will be performing her solo show, “My Big Brother Fights Monsters” as part of Chicago Dramatists’ “Art of Healing Festival” on May 13 at 2:00 p.m. In this solo show, Emma attempts to declutter her life a la Marie Kondo, but when she comes to her dead brother’s belongings, she begins to question what meaning these things hold, sending her tumbling into a complicated past. Registration is FREE and the show is a tear-jerker, so bring tissues!

Leah Roth Barsanti is a core writer on a new chat fiction app called ttom, which officially launches this summer! It’s all the fun of chat fiction aimed at an adult audience.

A scene from Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend‘s play, “Abort: The Mission,” will be featured in Bramble Theatre Company’s Festival of Unfinished Works in late June at The Edge Theatre Black Box (1133 W Catalpa).

Kym Fraher’s full-length play, “Chester” made it to semifinalist status at the O’Neill Playwriting Competition.
