This #GivingTuesday, Give Back to PlayGround!
At our 30th Anniversary Gala this year, Broadway playwright Jonathan Spector shared, “I don’t know if I would be a playwright today if it weren’t for PlayGround.”
For 30 years, PlayGround has provided hundreds of writers their very first opportunity to hear their words out loud. Of course we hope all our playwrights make it to Broadway, but we know we provide an essential service of giving writers that initial shot—so hopefully someday they can become the next Jonathan Spector or Lauren Yee (Cambodian Rock Band).
I’ll be honest: support for emerging artists in this country is in decline, with more and more programs sadly shuttering for lack of funds. The work we do to support nearly 150 playwrights and over 300 local actors and directors each year is critical, now more than ever.
We’ve been here for 30 years, and we hope you’ll help us through the next 30 by making a contribution today.
The best way to support working artists is through the Monday Night PlayGround Membership. Your gift of $100 directly funds the hire of 2 local artists in a Monday Night PlayGround show, and grants you access to a full season of live and extended on-demand performances of Monday Night PlayGround, plus priority seating reservations for in-person attendance. Memberships are fully tax-deductible with payment plans available.
And you will be helping us continue to provide free admission and online simulcast for all of our programs, facilitating a more accessible theatre community for all.
Donate directly online this holiday season at https://playground-ch.org/contribute, by phone at (415) 992-6677, or by mail to: PlayGround, 3286 Adeline St #9, Berkeley, CA 94703-2485. You can also donate via Zelle (info@playground-sf.org) or Venmo (@playgroundsf; last 4 digits are 8541 if requested).
This #GivingTuesday, I hope you will join me in making a personally meaningful contribution to celebrate our 30th Anniversary Season. Whether it’s $30, $300, or $3,000, your contribution directly supports our efforts to uplift the country’s best new storytellers and their artistic collaborators.
Wishing you all the best for the Holiday Season!
