Gibber
by Toby Inoue

Characters
ROSA: F pregnant, wants a family, fancies herself bilingual, but speaks Spanish with an American accent
TED: M techie, thinks his startup will take over the planet, isn’t ready for marriage

Setting: A trailer home in 1994.

TED and ROSA are dancing a la Pulp Fiction (like Vincent and Mia). While TED is really into it, ROSA eyes TED questioningly.

ROSA
Ted… what are we…? Why are we…?

TED
We’re celebrating!

ROSA
The baby?

TED
The regression test.

ROSA
It’s called a pregnancy test.

TED
It didn’t break anything.

ROSA
It was positive.

TED
That is positive.

ROSA
So you’re happy?

TED
I’m ecstatic!

ROSA
I’m so glad.

ROSA dances more enthusiastically. They dance together for a few more moments.

ROSA
We need to talk about it.

TED
I should run a few more tests.

TED moves to his computer and starts working, becoming immediately engrossed.

ROSA
I took two. Ted?

TED
Hang on. One sec…

ROSA
Ted!

TED
… Just need to untar this file… and compile…

ROSA flaps one hand (blah blah blah).

ROSA
(Imitating) the bile and throw it in the junk pile…

TED
I need to install…

ROSA
(Imitating)… your balls in a stall with a maul…

TED gets to a stopping point and turns to ROSA.

TED
Boot!

ROSA
I hate when you do that.

TED
Didn’t you want to talk?

ROSA
I’m not some computadora you need to start up.
